INVITATION TO COMPOSERS
The London Schubert Players Trust, The Romanian Cultural Institute in Paris and Info Manager Association in Bucharest invite you to join them on a remarkable classical music journey across Europe and beyond.
Invitation to Composers is a ground-breaking project for the European Commission. Over two years (November 2009 – October 2011) an impressive number of concerts, workshops, seminars, conferences, and presentations of audio-visual products and publications will take place in the UK, France and Romania.
The musical journey leads audiences and performers to the very source of inspiration and establishes a new form of relationship between composers, performers and audiences around the world. It is a consequence of the unique international call to composers to enrich the European classical music patrimony with instrumental combinations that do not exist or are very rare in the chamber music repertoire. Five works by Schubert, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saëns, Messiaen and Enescu have been chosen as inspirational ‘models’ and are performed and recorded side-by-side with the new works. The audience is made to feel part of the creative process by taking an active part in the dialogue between composers and performers during the seminars and workshops.
The international recognition achieved by Invitation to Composers even before its official launch on March 31st 2010 is testimony to the project’s inventiveness, appeal and brilliance.

OUR SUCCESS
Invitation to Composers has become one of the 'Success Stories' of the European Commission (DG Education and Culture) and is now available online at here. The Commission are planning to use them in different channels, forms and media. This will include illustrations of websites and brochures, pull-out quotes for press releases, speeches etc. Information on our 'Story' can be accessed and used as long as the European Commission is cited as the source and it is not used for commercial purposes.
